On-Site cleaning is an on-location cleaning of your window coverings. We use the injection – extraction method of cleaning. This method is recommended by Hunter Douglas to clean their fabric shades such as their Silhouette, Luminette, and Duette shades.
Dry cleaning is the use of solvents in our injection – extraction cleaning machine to remove soil and stains from fabric. It is called “dry cleaning” because the solvents contain no water and do not penetrate the fibers as water does. While many fabric window coverings can be wet cleaned using a solution that contains water, natural fibers such as wool and silk can shrink and lose color when washed with water but can be dry cleaned easily with no shrinkage or damage.
The injection – extraction method of cleaning uses a small cleaning machine that injects a cleaning solution onto the fabric and extracts the dirty solution in the same movement. Hunter Douglas approves and recommends this method of cleaning, when performed by a certified technician, because it is a safe method of cleaning for even the most delicate fabric shades, such as their Silhouette, Luminette, and Duette shades.
For someone to be certified to clean Hunter Douglas products they must go through an initial certification class where they learn about the different types of products and the best, safest way to clean them. Then they must follow the continuing education requirements and be re-certified every two years. Hunter Douglas recognizes technicians that have taken this course as authorized cleaners of their products.
We recommend cleaning your fabric window coverings once a year for people who suffer with allergies and about every two years for those who do not suffer with allergies. While the cleaning will not cure allergies, removing the dust and dirt may help reduce the intensity and frequency of allergies. It also helps to keep the fabric looking its best.
We recommend cleaning your mattresses once every six months. Dust mites are a major concern for those who suffer from allergies and while cleaning your mattress often won’t cure any allergies it may help reduce the intensity and frequency of allergies.
